Achilles tendinopathy is the most common Achilles injury where there is pain, swelling, stiffness and weakness in the tendon. It can be presence in a form of a lump on the tendon which is painful when you squeeze.
The condition can be broken down in to two main categories:
Pain can develop gradually, especially in the morning and after a prolonged period of rest. The Achilles is an important tissue found at the back of the leg which attaches the calf to the heel bone and helps the foot point the toes downwards.
Overuse can be a cause of the injury, and occurs when increasing training too fast, poor flexibility, lack of strength, poor / inappropriate footwear and environment changes.
