Our Podiatrist is skilled at reducing pain, increasing mobility and managing Bunion pain. This joint is vital for stability and propulsion of the foot when walking, running and standing.
The Bunion is a term used to describe an enlargement of the big toe joint that usually has a bump called an exostosis due to the big toe deviating inwards.
Clinically it is referred to as Hallux Valgus deformity and is normally due to arthritic changes in the big toe which can become stiff and painful.
Bunions can affect men and women and occasionally children. There are many contributing factors with this condition from family history, joint hypermobility, foot posture and function, activity levels and the commonly blamed poor footwear.
We will discuss all relevant factors and would recommend a Gait analysis and musculoskeletal assessment for this condition.
