Hallux limitus is when the big toe has a small reduction in motion, whilst rigidus is when the joint has minimal to zero movement in the big toe joint.
This condition is due to bio mechanical dysfunction in the joint. It is very important for the correct diagnosis to be made early to reduce symptoms and pain with the most efficient treatment methods.
We highly recommend a gait analysis with pressure plate to distinguish the difference between both conditions; this is vital for the push off phase when walking and running.
